Shots shatter Seattle daycare window during nearby shooting

SEATTLE — A 47-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center after a shooting occurred near A4 Apple Learning Center in Seattle's Central District on Monday.

The shooting happened in the afternoon near 23rd Avenue South and South Jackson Street. 

The man is now in satisfactory condition, according to the hospital.

Children inside the Seattle daycare heard shots firing outside the building on Monday. The bullets shattered the windows. Plywood was used to cover the broken window. 

Appollonia Washington, co-owner of A4 Apple Learning Center, said children were in circle time and transitioning to afternoon snack time when they heard the shots.
