TURF PROTECTION

While low-e glass is incredibly cost effective for helping keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, those benefits may come with an unexpected cost— your turf and vinyl siding! In the summer time especially, low-e glass reflects a large portion of the sunlight heat off its surface, redirecting it towards your artificial grass or nearby vinyl siding and causing them to melt.

That's where turf protection film comes in.

What Causes Turf and Vinyl Siding to Melt?

Due to the coating on low-e glass, the amount of ultraviolet and infrared light allowed to pass through the glass is reduced. This means all of that light (and heat) is reflected away from the windows, and often redirected towards nearby vinyl siding and/or artificial grass. Not only this, but because standard low-e panes are double paned, this can increase the intensity of the heat in the same way a magnifying glass can concentrate light. All of this adds up to a heat strong enough to melt and damage property.

How Does Turf Film Work?

When applied to your low-e windows, turf film prevents melting by breaking up the concentrated reflection of the sun’s rays. The light now has a lessened concentrated intensity, as the film harmlessly scatters the sunlight in multiple directions. All low-e properties of your window are retained, and your turf can stay intact! It really is that simple.
