(this list is not exhaustive, if you have any questions about other regulations we can help with, see the contact page).

Section 2406 - SAFETY GLAZING

S&T offers many window film options to satisfy safety glazing requirements for the Washington State Building Code (2018). The thickness of affective safety film usually ranges from 8 mil to 14 mil, and which one is right for your building depends on the risk level of the surrounding environment. Any of the mils in this range will qualify your glass as ‘tempered’.

Low threat environments: Buildings in more secluded areas and gated facilities. 8 mil will bring your windows up to spec and provide sufficient protection from threats.

High-threat environments: Buildings in central urban locations and facilities in cities downtown. 14 mil will bring your windows up to spec and provide a high-level of protection from threats.

It is important to keep in mind that there is no window film that prevents breakage if your windows are attacked and damaged. The glass will still break, however, entry of the assailant will be severely delayed, and in some cases even prevented altogether. If your building is in a particularly high-risk environment for glass vandalism or you’ve already replaced the glass multiple times, Defenselite might be a better solution.

Section RCW 43.10.005 - LACTATION ACCOMODATION REQUIREMENTS

“(viii) Providing reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk for two years after the child's birth each time the employee has need to express the milk and providing a private location, other than a bathroom, if such a location exists at the place of business or worksite, which may be used by the employee to express breast milk. If the business location does not have a space for the employee to express milk, the employer shall work with the employee to identify a convenient location and work schedule to accommodate their needs;”

With the steady increase of mothers in the workplace, the necessity for lactation accommodation is also increasing. With our wide selection of privacy window film, you can transform any office/conference room/etc. into a safe space for your qualifying employees. Window film is an easy, inexpensive way to meet the requirements of a private location for a breastfeeding mother.
