On Thursday night, someone smashed through the window facing the Burke Gilman Trail and took alcohol. They left behind broken glass everywhere.

Police believe the burglary is part of ongoing organized retail theft, some of them targeting the outlet mall.

As the photo above shows, the glass shattered but the would-be burglars didn’t get in.

"It really sucks when you’re affected by a break-in. Your property is damaged and even if you have good insurance, you have that deductible.”

The video shows the man climb through the shattered glass and enter the business. He then goes off-screen, but the owner told KOMO News he went to the cash register, although they don't keep money in the register overnight.

“Birds cannot detect glass. This is a design problem, not a bird problem. We can use less invasive designs and protect wildlife in ways that benefit all of us.”

According to police, per state law, a pursuit was not authorized.

Immediately before the arrests, officers said each of the suspects had burglarized a nearby home by breaking through the rear sliding door.

Police and other law enforcement will be canvassing the area for evidence and to identify more possible victims.

“Vandals smashing pumpkins is not a new phenomenon, but homeowners in Kent and Covington are now being terrorized by people taking pumpkins and damaging their homes and cars.”

One 47-year-old victim is now at Harborview in 'satisfactory' condition, according to the hospital.

“Inside the store, officers found a large black kettleball which appeared to be used to break out the window. A display shelf appeared to be cleared out. The store was in disarray.”

They estimated the thieves could not have gotten away with more than $100 — far less than the estimated cost of replacing their glass door with a solid metal one.

“Around 5:15 p.m., a man with a sledgehammer smashed nine windows of the museum along Canton Alley South, said museum spokesperson Steve McLean. Seattle Police Department officers responded to the incident about 45 minutes later. “

“They broke in by prying in the back patio door they had a mask on they had gloves on so they were professionals,” said Sheth.

The garden's staff said they believed the incident could be a bias crime, noting that it happened one day before the 2023 Chinese Festival.

“Shortly after the video was posted, a Bothell resident reached out. The Patil family had their home broken into, ransacked, and jewelry stolen on Saturday evening.”
